Multilocular Thymic Cyst Associated with Mediastinal Teratoma: A Case Report

چکیده
Congenital cysts are typically unilocular and thin-walled to the point of translucency; careful histopathologic examination shows no evidence of inflammation. In contrast, acquired thymic cysts are usually multilocular, hence the commonly used term “multilocular thymic cyst (MTC).” These cysts have thick, fibrous walls, and histopathologic examination typically reveals significant inflammation and fibrosis (1-3). Multilocular thymic cyst can develop in concert with various mediastinal neoplasms including thymoma, thymic carcinoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and seminoma (1, 2). Two cases of MTCs associated with benign mediastinal teratomas have been reported, but to our knowledge, detailed CT features and CT-histopathologic correlations have not been described (1). Here, we report the findings of a case of MTC associated with mediastinal mature cystic teratoma on computed tomography (CT) with CT-histopathologic correlations.

Multilocular Thymic Cysts with Follicular Hyperplasia: Report of a Case
We herein describe a rare case of multilocular thymic cysts (MTCs) with follicular hyperplasia. The patient was a 50-year-old man, who was symptom-free. A mediastinal mass was found on chest computed tomography (CT) followed after pancreatitis. Chest CT revealed a 30 × 10 mm anterior mediastinal mass with multiple cystic lesions. Magnetic resonance imaging showed an anterior mediastinal cystic ...

We report an unusual sequence of clinico-pathological manifestations of myelodysplastic syndrome and thymic squamous cell carcinoma. A 77-year-old man with a two-month history of myelodysplastic syndrome was admitted with acute chest pain and shortness of breath. Radiological investigations revealed an anterior mediastinal mass, associated with mediastinal haemorrhage. The mass was excised via ...
متن کاملThyroid Storm and Incidental Anterior Mediastinal Teratoma: Coincidence or Correlation?
UNLABELLED Teratoma is a rare cause of thyrotoxicosis. Among the different types of teratoma, struma ovarii is the main type which contains thyroid tissue. There is no evidence in the literature that would indicate mediasternal teratoma would also lead to thyrotoxicosis or thyroid storm. Herein we report a 37-year-old woman who suffered from palpitation. Her chest X-ray showed a mass lesion at ...
